450 kg of tuna, the largest in fishing history in Japan, was auctioned at the Katsoura harbor in Honshu Island, TASS reported.

The length of the fish is 2.74 m. It is the heaviest trapped in Japan since 1949 when the systematic report on fish of this type began.

Those wishing to buy the fish bid furiously, with the highest price being 7.15 million yen (about $ 67,000).

Tuna is caught on 9 March in the area of Ogassavara, 555 km south of Honshu Island. The fishermen have taken the giant out of the water after struggling for an hour.

"I realized it was a great fish, but I did not imagine its real size," said fisherman Yudzi Ohasi. "So far, it seems to me that it is a dream," he added.
