Bulgaria's Exports Grew 4% in 2015 - Final Data

Bulgaria exported BGN 44.949 M worth of goods last year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI)'s final data shows.

The figure constitutes an increase of 4% compared to the previous year.

The highest growth in exports was observed in March (24.4%), the largest fall having been in September (7.5%).

Imports went slightly up, having been at BGN 51.549 M (at CIF prices) in 2015, or a 0.9% growth compared to 2014. Their highest growth and fall were also observed in March (13%) and September (12.3%), respectively.

Foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) was negative in 2015 and amounted to BGN 6.5995 B, or BGN 1.2644 B less than the balance in 2014. At FOB/FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports) the negative balance in 2015 added up to BGN 4.0646 M.

The exports of Bulgaria in 2015 distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification showed that the largest growth was recorded in the section "Chemical and related products n.e.c." (12.5%). The most notable fall was reported in the section "Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials" (13.4%).

In imports, the largest growth was recorded in the section "Miscellaneous manufactured articles" (13.1%). The most notable fall was reported in the section "Mineral fuel, lubricants and related materials" (21.0%).

In terms of trade with the EU, exports to other member states increased by 7.9% compared to 2014, amounting to BGN 29.0494 B.

Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and Belgium were the main EU trade partners of the country, making up 60% of exports to the bloc.

Imports from EU countries, however, went down 5.2% and were worth BGN 33.1572 B. Germany, Italy, Romania, Greece and Spain were the largest importers of goods into the country.

Foreign trade balance (exports FOB - import CIF) of Bulgaria with the EU countries was negative and amounted to BGN 4.1078 B in 2015.

With third countries, exports dеcreased by 2.5% in 2015 and amounted to BGN 15.9 B. Turkey, China, Serbia, Russia and Macedonia were the biggest export partners, making up 46% of goods sold to non-EU countries.

Imports decreased by 6.1% and weer BGN 18.391 B, the biggest partners having been Russia, Turkey, China, Ukraine and Serbia.

Foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries was negative and added up to BGN 2.4917 B in 2015.
