Sofia to Host Charity Run in Support of Tolerance

The traditional Tole-Run is to take place in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on Sunday, September 18, at 09:00 local time.

This year, the event has grown into a festival that will be kicked off by Israeli musician Idan Raichel.

The run and his multicultural concert on September 17 will promote sports and music as the two purest expressions of tolerance.

On Sunday, two parallel runs will begin from the National Palace of Culture (NDK). A shorter one (2km) will go around the South Park to return to NDK. Participation is free of charge.

The second one, 13 km long, will head to Vitosha Blvd and will cross much of Sofia's park areas, including Borisova Gradina, Hunting Park and South Park. Those willing to join will have to pay a fee of BGN 20.

Both runs require registration.

Tole-Run was held for the first time in 2013, aimed at celebrating sports and tolerance but also family values.

All revenues coming from participants in the event will be donated to the Bulgarian Red Cross.

Sports Minister Krasen Kralev and Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova have been invited as special guests of the run.

Tole-Fest is co-organized by Quadrant Beverages/Pepsi, Eurohold (Mazda & Fiat), NuBoyana, Sofia Municipality, and the Embassy of Israel in Bulgaria.
