The capacity of the EU to accept more economic migrants is close to exhaustion.

This opinion was expressed separately by European Council President Donald Tusk and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on Sunday.

Tusk, who is in China for participation in the G20 summit, said that the “practical capabilities of Europe to host new waves of refugees, not to mention irregular economic migrants, are close to the limits”.

Several hours later, speaking to journalists in Varna, Borisov was firm that Bulgaria has no more capacity to accept economic migrants, while Europe is gasping.

The Bulgarian prime minister pointed that Tusk had confirmed the need of closing the external borders of the EU and allowing only political migrants until the problems are solved.

Borisov added that Bulgarian Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov will have a meeting with his Afghani counterpart at which they will discuss the return of Afghani citizens.

Mitov, who accompanied Borisov in Varna, also stated that the EU had exhausted its capacity to accept migrants.

He added that the social security and education systems of the member states will not last long if the migrant pressure is sustained.
