Newly-approved Labor and Social Policy Minister Zornitsa Rusinova has been sworn in by Parliament after an overwhelming vote in favor of her nomination.

Rusinova, until now Deputy Labor Minister, is taking over after her predecessor Ivaylo Kalfin resigned last week.

Lawmakers backed her nomination with 135 in favor and 68 against, with 8 abstentions.

Rusinova's appointment has been the fourth reshuffle in the Council of Ministers since Boyko Borisov's government was formed in the autumn of 2014. Over that period, the ministers of interior, justice, and education stepped down, two of them having been replaced by Deputy Prime Ministers.

Separately, on Wednesday lawmakers voted to back Kalfin's resignation as MP. After leaving the ministerial office, Kalfin had the legal option to return to Parliament to which he had been elected prior to taking over social policy in 2014, but said he was not interested.
