Bulgarian Cabinet Survives Vote of No Confidence

As expected, the incumbent Bulgarian government survived its first vote of no confidence on Friday.

The opposition subjected the government to a censure motion for failure in its healthcare policies.

The vote of no confidence was submitted by 69 MPs from the two largest opposition parties – the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) as well as two non-affiliated lawmakers.

A total of 80 MPs voted in favour of the censure motion, 130 were against, while five lawmakers abstained, Darik radio informs.

The largest ruling party GERB, its junior coalition partner – the Reformist Bloc (RB) and the two parties supporting the coalition government – the Patriotic Front (PF) and the Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV) voted against

Although the four opposition parties voted in favour, the censure motion was unsuccessful as it failed to garner the support of 121 MPs.
