Bulgaria's top ranking male tennis player Grigor Dimitrov was ousted dramatically from the third round of the Western & Southern Open, which is taking place in Cincinnati.

In a match, which lasted more than three hours, Dimitrov was defeated by Andy Murray from the UK with 6:4, 6:7 (3), 5:7.

The Bulgarian played well, being in the lead for most of the match, but failed to claim the final victory after lacking concentration in the decisive moments.

This was the eighth match between the two opponents, the Bulgarian having won only two of their encounters, daily Dnevnik informs.

Dimitrov had an advantage in the opening set and easily won it after achieving a break in the first game.

The Bulgarian established a comfortable 4:1 lead in the second set, but Murray managed to recover, making a comeback and winning the tiebreak with 7:3.

Dimitrov was 0:2 down after conceding a break early on in the third set, but the Bulgarian managed to recover and came in the lead with 5:2.

However it was then time for Murray to win five consecutive games, with which he claimed the final victory.
