Greeks Protest against New Bailout Plan

The news that Greece has agreed upon the demands of its major creditors has caused a wave of unrest in Athens and all across the country.

Hundreds of people gathered in front of the capital’s Parliament on Monday evening in order to express their disappointment and disapproval. They waved the Greek flag, as well as posters saying ‘’no’’ in Greek.

In order for Greece to avoid bankruptcy, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was forced to agree with the proposed austerity measures and severe reforms in sensitive fields such as pension funds and taxes.

The syndicate of Greek administrative Employees called for 24-hour strike on Wednesday.

In addition, the European Central Bank is to provide Bulgaria’s southern neighbor with EUR 86 B in exchange for the promised and long-postponed reforms.

The next four days will be crucial to Athens, as Parliament needs to amend key laws urgently before the third bailout plan can be executed.
