Bulgaria has not received an official invitation for the meeting of foreign ministers of Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, and Hungary in Budapest on April 7 over the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project, according to Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov.

Speaking Friday in Parliament, Mitov informed that neither he nor Foreign Ministry experts had received an invitation to attend the meeting in Budapest as observers, according to reports of investor.bg.

He noted that Bulgaria’s policy in the sphere envisaged pursuing projects of national and EU importance matching several requirements, most notably economic feasibility (using the shortest route and existing infrastructure), minimum political risks, and a lack of points of conflict with the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor.

Mitov suggested that one way to keep risks to a minimum was to draft routes crossing EU countries.

He said that the projects were supposed to have secured financing and to comply with EU law.

Mitov cited the Vertical Gas Corridor as one of the important projects for Bulgaria.
