Millions of children are likely to loose their lives in the next fifteen years because of diseases that could easily be counteracted. This will happen unless the international community employs its efforts in assisting the most vulnerable population of the planet.

The information has been delivered in a UNICEF report, as quoted by the DPA.

The increased social inequality has in its turn increased the risk of early mortality is highest among kids of poorer households. In case no adequate counteraction is offered, an additional 68 million children under the age of 5 will perish by 2030. To top it all, additional 119 million children will suffer from chronic malnourishment by 2030, despite the decreased rates of mortality registered over the past 25 years.

According to the UNICEF report, the solution to all these problems lies in improved healthcare, social assistance programs and proper education in the most vulnerable regions of the world. UNICEF also called for these issues to become priorities for all UN member states in the future.
