Torrential Rains and Hail Expected in Bulgaria

Torrential rains and thunderstorms in more than half of Bulgaria's territory are expected Thursday. The Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences issued code yellow, indicating potentially dangerous weather.

The municipalities at risk are: Lovech, Plovdiv, Smolyan, Kardzhali, Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Targovishte, Sliven, Yambol, Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Razgrad and Silistra.

Precipitation will start in the afternoon hours across Central Bulgaria and by midnight the rain will spread to the Eastern Black Sea coast, where hails are also expected.

Temperatures will be considerably lower on Thursday as compared to the previous days, with maximums between 23 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the maximum expected values along the Black Sea coast will be between 19° and 24°C, while sea water will be slightly colder - 13° - 16° C.

Rain will also be continuing throughout the weekend, with maximum temperatures of approximately 24° C, and minimums of 11° -13° C. Cloudiness will continue through to Wednesday when further thunderstorms are expected, with temperatures varying between 20-21 ° C, and 8-9 ° C.
