Indictment Against Hristo Biserov Returned to Prosecutor's Office

Sofia City Court has terminated the legal case against former Deputy Parliament Speaker, Hristo Biserov. The indictment has been returned to the Prosecutor's Office, as announced by the court's press service.

The reason behind the development has been violation in the description of the case. the decision can be appealed in the following seven days.

Last week, Biserov and his stepson Ivaylo Glavinkov's properties estimated at more than BGN 1.5 M, were impounded.

Biserov was charged on allegation of large-scale financial and tax crimes.

In his tax declaration for 2012, Biserov declared taxes due in the amount of BGN 8,376.75. The Prosecutor's Office formed a claim stating that he had disposed of the extra income in favor of his son in law Ivaylo Glavinkov through two transfers. Allegedly, the true amount due by Biserov was BGN 34 055.

Bulgarian legislation prescribes a 3 to 8 years in prison as well as property confiscation in similar cases.

Furthermore, reportedly Biserov has also failed to file in the correct amount of taxes due for 2012 as well. His bank accounts in Switzerland had USD 314 529 and additional EUR 82 515,39.
