According to unconfirmed information, Bulgaria's Olympic weightlifting champion Milen Dobrev has most probably died of a heart attack.

The athlete was found dead in his home in Plovdiv on Saturday afternoon, and the emergency call on account of the incident has been received at 1:38 pm.

The body of the 35-year old Dobrev did not show any sign of violence, as announced by the Plovdiv Police Office.

In the words of one of his friends, Atanas Markov, he had been suffering from a heart desease but had recently stopped taking his medications.

He further shared that both of them were planning on opening a sports academy for children.

Milen Dobrev was born in plovdiv on February 28, 1980. He is the last Bulgarian Olympic champion in weightlifting and won the prestigious title at the summer Olympic Games in Athens, 2004. Dobrev was also a two-time world and European champion.

His career had to be put on hold on account of muscle strains right at the eve of the summer Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
