The Bulgarian government decided at its meeting on Wednesday to allocate further BGN 15 M for additional co-financing of energy effectiveness projects.

This concerns projects, which have already been started and have applied for funding before the launch of the large-scale programme worth BGN 1 B, which was announced last week.

Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova commented the decision with the need to provide applicants with an equal access to EU funding and national co-financing, daily Dnevnik reports.

Pavlova announced that at present 97 buildings were approved, while another 190 buildings were still in the process of being assessed.

The Regional Minister said that the aim is to provide all applicants with financial support within the scope of 2015, as this is when the allocation of EU funding under the previous programme period expires.

The target is for 250-280 buildings to be allocated with BGN 50 M from EU funds and additional BGN 15 M coming from national co-financing.
