Bulgaria's Deputy PM Kalfin To Discuss Legislative Changes With Labor Unions

Bulgarian Minister of Labor and Social Policy Ivaylo Kalfin has announced in a press release that a series of discussions will be held regarding the minimal wage in the country.

The events will be held between Labor Ministry and representatives of the labor unions in Bulgaria, who have sent an open letter to the institution earlier during the week.

Discussions will revolve around the projected proposals for choice of additional pension funds insurance, criminalizing of non-provision of insurance installments, as well as the most bilaterally received one - for increase of the minimum wage.

''I am expecting that we as an institution will continue complying with our obligations and will reach legislative proposals by the end of March to be presented to the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation,'' Kalfin stated.

The council has been created in order to facilitate communication between business organizations, Bulgarian government and labor unions through discussions on matters of national importance.

Kalfin further expressed his willingness to meet representatives of employee unions in order to clarify ideas and proposals previously announced by the Council and to discuss further steps.
