The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) is to stage a protest against the planned increase in the retirement age and the low incomes.

The Podkrepa Labor Confederation will not attend Thursday's rally, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Television.

The increase in the retirement age would affect over 15 000 people, which would save the state budget around BGN 18 M, according to CITUB.

CITUB insists that the sum is negligible compared to the money which go to bailing out Corporate Commercial Bank (KTB, Corpbank).

The protest, which is to be attended by around 6000 people, starts at 11:30 am in Makedonia square in Sofia and is to reach the Council of Ministers building and the Parliament building.

Apart from that, prison workers in the country are starting a series of daily protests over budget 2015.
