French police have evicted about 200 people, mainly Bulgarian and Romanian Roma from a camp in a suburb of Paris.

The operation was carried out Tuesday. There were many children among the Roma community living in the camp. Some thirty families were provided emergency housing, Bulgaria's Telegraph Agency informs.

The Roma camp was located in the Paris suburb of Bobigny, in the department of Seine-Saint-Denis. People living there were warned in advance and many of them left after the police arrived.

The camp was declared dangerous by the authorities. It did not have electricity, water and sanitation. Several fires have broken out in the camp, and a 7-year-old girl died in one of them in February.
