Three lion cubs born in Bulgaria's Razgrad zoo are to be sold by closed public tender at a starting price of BGN 1,800, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency informs.

The Razgrad Municipal Council will make the final decision on whether to sell the cubs at its forthcoming meeting on October 28.

Last week the town mayor Dencho Boyadzhiev announced that the director of the Circus Balkanski Alexander Balkanski had requested to buy the baby lions and intended to take part in the tender.

According to the market valuation of the cubs, each of them has a starting price of BGN 600. At the time, the cubs each weighed between 12 and 15 kg and were 30-35 cm high.

The three lions are male and therefore it was decided to sell them. The Municipality of Razgrad can barely afford to take care of all the 7 lions in the town zoo as each of them eats 5-6 kg of meat daily, Dnevnik.bg notes.
