The Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics team won the gold medal at the AA competition of the 33rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Izmir, Turkey.

A breathtaking performance of two routines brought a total of 34 449 points to Reneta Kamberova, Mihaela Maevska-Velichkova, Tsvetelina Naydenova, Tsvetelina Stoyanova, Hristiyana Todorova.

With a total of 34 449 points, Bulgaria thus managed to oust Italy, a traditional winner over the last years, which ranked second.

Belarus took the bronze, and Russia came fourth after having a clear lead, and sinking down in the final chart after a flawed performance with clubs.

This is Bulgaria's first gold medal in the all-around phase of a world championship since 1996.
