Bulgaria’s EU Funds Management Coordination Council has proposed a budget of EUR 113.5 M in the 2014-2020 programming period.

According to the proposal, a total of EUR 88 M is to be supplied in the form of EU funding and a total of EUR 25.5 M is to be provided through national co-financing, according to a media statement of the Council of Ministers.

Bulgaria is to send the proposal to the European Commission for approval.

Vasil Grudev, Bulgaria’s caretaker Agriculture Minister, explained that the EU funding provided under the Maritime and Fisheries Program was aimed at achieving a dynamic, sustainable, competitive and environmentally-friendly development of the sector in the period 2014-2020.

The 2014-2020 Maritime and Fisheries Program was the only document of all program documents included in the Partnership Agreement which Bulgaria had not yet sent to the EC.

Iliyana Tsanova, caretaker Minister for EU Funds, explained that the talks with the EC on the other programs proceeded according to the approved schedule, adding that Bulgaria expected the first round of meetings to be over by October 10.

She vowed a report on the operational program talks next week.
