The government has elected Atanas Paparizov head of Bulgaria's Permanent Mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Bulgaria's Permanent Mission to the WTO was established in 1996 within the framework of of Permanent Mission of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva.

Its director is a senior diplomat elected by the government to conduct its activity under the control of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office in Geneva.

According to the government's press office, the appointment will streamline Bulgaria's cooperation with the WTO which was marred by a prolonged lack of a head of the mission.

Paparizov is former MP and former socialist MEP and was Minister of Commerce during the term in office of the government of Prime Minister Zhan Videnov, according to reports of dnevnik.bg.
