Police in Russia have identified 2 alleged suicide bombers believed to be responsible for the joint bombings of a train station and a trolleybus in Volgograd in December.

The attacks of December 29th and 30th left 34 people dead in the southern city of Volgograd.

The National Anti-Terrorism Committee identified the suspected suicide bombers as Asker Samedov and Suleiman Magomedov, adding that they belong to the Buinaksk militant group based in the turbulent southern province of Dagestan, RIA Novosti reports.

Initial reports suggested that both of the suicide bombers were women.

The Russian authorities have also detained two brothers, both from Dagestan, on suspicion of assisting the terrorists in traveling to Volgograd. They are being questioned by investigators.
