Bulgaria’s Socialist Party Ahead of GERB - Poll

Bulgarian Socialist Party would win the elections for Parliament , if they were to be held now, a recent poll of Institute of Modern Politics, an independent think-thank shows.

If Parliament elections were to be held now, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP would win the vote with 18.5%, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB would be second with 16.6% , predominantly ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS would get 5.8% and the right-leaning Reformist Block would overcome the 4% threshold with 5.6% of the vote.

The poll was conducted between September 21 and 28 among 1 192 respondents by Institute of Modern Politics (IMP), an independent think-thank focused on good governance and human rights issues.

Extreme nationalist party Ataka, currently in the Parliament, would get 1.4% of the vote, while its rival National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria, NFSB would get 1.9%, both would not be able to overcome the 4% threshold, and will remain outside the Parliament, according to the poll.

“Bulgaria without Censorship” , a brand new project of Nikolay Barekov, former journalist and current aspiring politician would have its chance to enter the parliament with 5% of the vote.
