Unemployment is the biggest fear of the average Bulgarian, a recent poll of the Afis polling agency shows.

The results of the poll, conducted in September, were presented by Afis Director, Yuriy Aslanov.

56% of the respondents of employment age have listed unemployment as their biggest worry, compared to 50% in 2012, when every other household had a member who lost their job.

Aslanov says the poll has further revealed the widening gap between problems of common Bulgarians and problems that are in the media focus.

Unemployment, for example, ranks 11th in importance for media, which had focused lately extensively on corruption and oligarchy.

Only 8% of respondents have answered they see corruption and oligarchs as a serious problem.

In their ranking, unemployment is followed by poverty (18%), the economic crisis (13%), lack of security (10%), and health (9%).
