Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev has criticized the preceding cabinet of ex-PM Boyko Borisov of allowing the ruin of important state companies.

Saturday Stoynev was on a visit to the southern Bulgarian town of Harmanli and the nearby Maritsa Iztok coal mines, the largest in Bulgaria.

The occasion of the visit was tensions among miners about possible layoffs and irregular payments.

"During the last 3.5 years, an intentional policy was conducted to lead to bankruptcy the most attractive state companies," stated Stoynev.

According to him, during that period the price of coal produced in the mines was not increased, and the company sold the material under its real value.

Stoynev said that new legislative amendments will make it easier to export electricity, in order to stimulate production in the mines.

"I made a commitment to the two major trade unions to avoid any layoff of miners, and to ensure them work," said the Economy and Energy Minister.
