Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev believes that a new Bulgarian government is set to be formed quickly, despite what appears to be a political stalemate in Parliament.

“I believe that we will have a government very soon,” Plevneliev told reporters, according to the Trud daily.

The President reminded that he would have talks with all four parties in Parliament on Thursday.

Plevneliev spoke with reporters ahead of a summit of EU leaders in Brussels on Wednesday.

The parties that overcame the 4% threshold to win seats in the May 12 general elections are: the center-right GERB of former PM Boyko Borisov, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, the ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, and their self-proclaimed arch enemies - the far-right nationalist Ataka (Attack).

GERB gathered 30.503% of the vote. However, the party will not be able to form a government, since all other formations in Parliament have refused to negotiate with it.

BSP is next with 26.614%, followed by DPS with 11.293% and Ataka - 7.302%.
