Two individuals have been sentenced for vote buying in favor of the predominantly ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov has announced.

Tsatsarov’s announcement came during a special press conference that summed up the work done by the Chief Prosecutor’s Office to counter voting fraud in Sunday’s general election in Bulgaria.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms came third in the election and is expected to be a key factor for the potential formation of a new government.

A total of 64 pre-trial procedures have been launched for vote buying and other election-related crimes in the aftermath of the vote, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
