The prices of energy and food, as well as of other goods in Bulgaria, are bound to go up during the coming winter, according to Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov.

At the same time, Goranov admitted that there is little opportunity for a significant increase in households' incomes in the short term.

"Our cabinet continues to work for the creation of conditions that will make people's incomes grow," stated the vice-FinMin in an interview for bTV.

"However, energy and foods, and all other goods connected with them, will be more expensive this winter, if we consider the trends," added he.

Goranov stressed that it is a policy of Bulgaria's center right GERB cabinet to create favorable conditions for production and employment.

He further defended plans to introduce a tax on bank interest as being fair and equitable.
