The Bulgarian government has signed with the World Bank two contracts for consultancy services on strategies in water management and innovations.

The agreements were signed Thursday by Bulgarian Minister of Economy and Energy Delyan Dobrev, vice-Minsiter of Regional Development Dobromir Simidchiev, and World Bank Central Europe and Baltic states director Peter Harold.

The arrangements are a follow up to a memorandum of understanding signed in January 2012 between the government of Bulgaria and the World Bank.

"The World Bank has been a partner with Bulgaria for the last 20 years and with these agreements we are shifting the focus of our cooperation to the field of knowledge," stated Peter Harold.

"Innovations are our key priority, and that is why we are determined to create such an environment for them in Bulgaria, as to promote their growth and also help Bulgarian business grow," stated Minister Delyan Dobrev.

The World Bank will consult Bulgaria on developing a so-called "Strategy for Intelligent Specialization" in the field of innovations.

It is worth BGN 3.5 M and is to be completed by August 2014.
