Toddler Girl Shot on Varna Playground

A four-year old girl has been shot on a playground in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna, according to the press center of the local police.

A female Varna resident, 49, has approached the police around 8 pm Thursday. She told them that an unidentified man shot the toddler girl in the face. The incident happened on the playground in the Asparuhovo district of the city, on "Cyril and Methodius" street, in front of apartment building 36. After going to the location and questioning witnesses, the police were able to identify the perpetrator as M.A., 49, residing at the same address.

The girl was taken to the hospital with a gun pellet under her eye and underwent face surgery. Her life is out of danger. Pre-trial proceedings have been launched.

According to information of the Varna-based news site Dnes+, the man was drunk and shot at the girl deliberately because "the kids on the playground irritated him."
