Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov travelled to Brussels Wednesday and met European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso.

PM Borisov informed the two EU leaders about the latest economic and political developments in Bulgaria, and discussed the latest movements on the European political stage.

Van Rompuy has "welcomed" the increased rate of EU funds absorption and the recent shifting of EUR 950 M of sovereign Bulgarian bonds, according to a statement by the Bulgarian cabinet.

According to the European Council statement, the President was "informed" about developments in Bulgaria's EU funds and praised Bulgaria's fiscal discipline, encouraging the cabinet for further reforms.

The Bulgarian government further informs that on his part, Barroso thanked Borisov for his positions during European Councils and his support for a union-based approach to important matters.

The EC President also accepted the Bulgarian PM's invitation to be present at the launching of the second diameter of the Sofia underground in August.

In July Bulgaria expects an important report on the European Commission's so-called Co-operation and Verification Mechanism for Corruption and Organized Crime.
