Lithuania's Parliament ratified Thursday the European Union's Fiscal Stability Treaty aimed at toughening fiscal discipline and the enforcement of EU budget rules.
80 MPs backed the pact, 11 voted against and 21 abstained, according to reports of local news agencies cited by Bloomberg.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius A?ubalis declared that the approval of the pact would be a sign of solidarity with the entire eurozone.
The Baltic state, a former Soviet Union republic with a population of around 3 million, hopes to adopt the Euro in 2014.
