The agricultural yield for 2012 in Bulgaria is expected to be smaller but of better quality than that for last year, commented Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Foods Miroslav Naydenov.

"There will be no problems with the crops caused by heavy rains and hail during the spring, but the yield is going to be marginally smaller indeed," commented Naydenov Saturday in an interview for Darik Radio.

Thus in effect he confirmed earlier reports by agricultural producers that the crop might be as far as 25% smaller than last year due to poor weather.

"What is more, Bulgarian producers will compensate the smaller quantity with better quality," added the minister.

Naydenov however assured that this will not lead to raises in the prices of foods.
