Romania's PM-designate Victor Ponta has unveiled the country's new cabinet, which is expected to be supported by the Parliament on Thursday.

The left-winger has explained that portfolios would be evenly split between the two major parties in his Social Liberal Union (USL).

"This is a special government designed for special times. It has a limited mandate of six months until the parliamentary elections," Ponta has commented, as commented by the BBC.

"Our political and economic vision will ensure predictability and boost creation of jobs in Romania."

On Friday, Romania's President Traian Basescu nominated former leftist opposition leader Victor Ponta as the country's new Prime Minister.

Romania's government of former Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu was brought down, as a total of 235 MPs cast their ballots in favor of defeating it in a no confidence vote on Friday, with 231 votes needed.

Ungureanu's cabinet cut salaries and increase taxes in an attempt to stabilize the country's finances. However, the anti-crisis measures dealt a serious blow to Romania's economic recovery.
