The Southern Bulgarian Plovdiv Municipality has declared buildings retrofitted under the Energy Upgrade of Bulgarian Homes tax-exempt.

Regional Development Minister Lilyana Pavlova presented the project to Plovdiv citizens on Sunday.

She explained that the scheme was aimed at providing better living conditions for multi-family housing residents, thereby improving the urban environment and ensuring the implementation of energy efficiency measures.

The project is being executed under the Regional Development Operational Program and is worth BGN 50 M.

Financial assistance will be granted to owners registered under the Commonhold Property Management Act , with the owners entitled to up to 50% of the cost of the upgrade.

The people willing to take advantage of the scheme need to have BGN 3000 - 5000 in advance.

In her Sunday statement, Pavlova explained that the money could be supplied through a loan that the home owners could pay back within 6 months on a BGN 35 monthly installment.
