ABB provided the grid connection and transformer stations of the two Solar Parks "Zlataritsa" and "Samovodene" whose beneficiary is the Korean SDN company

Sofia, March 26, 2012 – ABB in Bulgaria accomplished two projects in the solar domain – "Zlataritza" and respectively "Samovodene" whose beneficiary is the Korean SDN Company Ltd, a leading corporation in the building of photovoltaic power plants.

The 25 MW "Zlataritza" Photovoltaic Park is located in the proximity of Veliko Tarnovo. ABB provided the grid connection of the park to the 110 kV national grid and the Photovoltaic houses  with the equipment for the park. The substation accomplished by ABB is based on advanced ABB modules 110 kV PASS M? (one module comprises of two complete 110 kV transformer bays with direct plug-in connection of 110 kV cable).  This solution ensures an extremely compact and secured grid connection of the project. Additionally, ABB designed the Photovoltaic park electrical houses together with delivery of major equipment there.

The investor in the other project "Samovodene" Photovoltaic park 21MW prioritized its construction. ABB completed the project and 72 hours tests were performed before June 2011, seeming to be the highest FIT (feed-in-tariff) for PV green energy in Bulgaria for 20 years. ABB provided the grid connection comprising of: modular step-up substation, no kV Overhead line and extension of existing grid facilities. ABB is the key equipment supplier for the Photovoltaic  part of the project, supplying: dry-cast coil transformers with reduced losses, medium voltage switchgear, low voltage cubicles.

"These projects show ABB's commitment to offer to its customers in Bulgaria the right solutions in the photovoltaic domain, leading to smarter power networks,  energy efficiency and environmetal protection." – said Peter Simon – Country Manager of ABB for Romania, Bulgaria and Rep. Moldova.

ABB has been involved in a significant number of projects in the photovoltaic domain in Bulgaria, offering products and complete solutions in order to reduce the environmental impact of energy systems. ABB also offers products and solutions for the Photovoltaic part of the projects, as well as for the medium and high voltage grid connections.

The SDN Company Ltd. has been cooperating with ABB since 2010, nowadays being the beneficiary of the ABB technology in the Solar power domain.

ABB operates in Bulgaria through three companies in five locations, employing a total number of over 1000 employees. The three ABB production units are located in Petrich, Sevlievo and Rakovski.
