The ban on tractor trailers of over 10 tons on the roads of four Bulgarian regions – Varna, Burgas, Silistra and Dobrich has been lifted effective 2 pm Saturday.

The news was reported by the Road Infrastructure Agency.

The situation in Bulgaria is slowly coming back to normal, after the blizzard that hit mid-week. Roads across the country are passable, under winter weather conditions, the Agency informs. Road surfaces are wet and icy in higher elevations. It warns that roads will be treacherous over the low temperatures and appeals to drivers to postpone trips if possible and use extreme caution.

All snow removal contractor companies continue to work round-the-clock.

Main roads in northeastern and eastern Bulgaria have reopened; some third class roads remain closed.

A significant line of tractor trailers is reported at the Capitan Andreevo cross border point on the Bulgarian-Turkish border. It is over 2-km long and was formed because the Bulgarian side of the checkpoint was closed for tractor trailers for 22 hours earlier over the snow.

It reopened at noon Friday, but the processing of the waiting vehicles is slow because there are fewer Bulgarian employees on duty over the weekend.
