Renewed reports have emerged that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to pay GBP 5 M (EUR 6 M) in order to snap up Bulgaria's promising international goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov.

Currently, the English club have two veteran stoppers – Brad Friedel (40) and Carlo Cudicini (38), while Heurelho Gomes is almost certain to move on in the January window.

So, Tottenham's coach Harry Redknapp is keen to add a long-term replacement to his squad and Twente's 23-year-old is seen as an excellent choice, Football Talk reports.

Mihaylov has been scouted on several occasions by Spurs scouts whilst playing for the Dutch side this season.

Mihaylov joined Liverpool from Bulgaria's Levfski Sofia in 2007 but was immediately loaned out to Twente. Recently, rumors emerged that the likes of Milan and Barcelona are chasing the young prospect.

Nikolay Mihaylov is the son of Borislav Mihaylov, a legendary Bulgarian goalkeeper, the player with the most international appearances for Bulgaria and member of UEFA's executive committee. Nikolay's grandfather, Bisser Mihaylov, also used to be the country's international goalkeeper.
