A peaceful protest against the planned increase in student tution fees will take place on Friday in Bulgarian capital Sofia's Student City university campus.

Student unions form Sofia's University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the University for National and World Economy, the Technical University in Sofia and several other academic institutions from across the country will take part in the rally.

Besides their discontent over the upping of tution fees planned in the 2012 state budget, the student want to express their demands for the establishment of a state strategy for the development of higher education, the creation of a new law on higher education, as well as a new model for financing the Bulgarian colleges and universities.

The protest's organizers have pointed out that they do not intend to create turmoil and disrupt the public order but just express their stance against the increased fees and in favor of more reforms in the higher education sector, news.bg reports.
