China is interested in importing Bulgarian wines, dairy products, chicken meat and eggs, grain and oil-bearing plants, as well as processed foods and vegetables, it has been made clear.

On Friday, China's Deputy Agriculture Minister Gao Honbin met with his Bulgarian counterpart Tsvetan Dimitrov in Bulgaria's capital Sofia. They discussed the potential signing of a bilateral trade protocol between the two countries.

After the meeting, Dimitrov announced that the agricultural trade between Bulgaria and China has expanded over the past two years. However, he pointed out that Bulgaria's import from China has been significantly higher than Bulgaria's export to the Asian country.

Gao Honbin confirmed China's readiness to expand its agricultural cooperation with Bulgaria and let Bulgaria's agricultural products enter the Chinese market.

On Thursday, it was announced that China's Tianjin State Farms Agribusiness Group Company is investing a total of EUR 10 M in the lease of agricultural land in Northwestern Bulgaria, the poorest EU region.

All of the agricultural produce from the land in question will be exported to the People's Republic of China.
