Twelve out of the total of twenty-four District Mayors in Bulgaria's capital Sofia will be substituted, Yordanka Fandakova, who was recently reelected as Mayor of the city, has announced.

Sofia will no longer have Deputy Mayors responsible for security and culture, Fandakova also revealed in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio on Sunday. Until know, these two positions were occupied by members of the rightist Blue Coalition, a formation that used to support Fandakova's centrist-right GERB.

GERB's nomination for a new chairman of Sofia's municipal council is expected to be announced on Tuesday, the reelected Mayor also said. She further called for a strict financial discipline within the Sofia municipality.

On October 23, Fandakova was reelected as Mayor of Sofia, as she gathered approximately 53% of all ballots. The incumbent Mayor's main opponents, left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party's Georgi Kadiev and Proshko Proshkov from the Blue Coalition, both demanded that the elections be canceled after the results were announced.

Kadiev and Proshkov claimed there were widespread irregularities during the election process.
