Paris St-Germain have indeed made an offer for Manchester United's Bulgarian striker Dimitar Berbatov, but it has been turned down, the French club's coach Leonardo has admitted.

''I talked with (Manchester United coach) Alex Ferguson on the phone, but he told be he would need Berbatov and that he was not for sale,"Leonardo has revealed, according to France Football.

PSG have been reported on several occasions as hoping to sign Berbatov, together with the likes of Valencia, Bayern Munich, Juventus and  Malaga.

The Bulgarian hitman's future at Old Trafford has been described as doubtful ever since he was snubbed for the Champions League final against Barcelona at the end of the last season. Only one year remains from the forward's contract with United.

On Sunday,  Bulgarian wide-circulation daily Standart  reported that Sir Alex Ferguson has a high esteem of Berbatov, even though he has been chronically failing to be chosen  for the Red Devils' starting squad.
