A huge fire flared up Wednesday night at the Western Industrial Zone in the Black Sea city of Varna.

A total of 2000 sq m of Varna Commerce Warehouse, former Tersnab, erupted in flames at around 10 p.m.

The fire was knocked down by 1.30 a.m with the help of about 10 fire trucks and emergency squads from the nearby cities of Dobrich, Albena and Shumen.

The heavy rainfall helped firefighters extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported after the accident.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, arson being one of the possibilities.

The flames are believed to have started in a warehouse containing machine oils, aluminium and plastic frames and barrels of oil.

Local police authorities have said that the fire on Wednesday night was the biggest ever witnessed on the territory of the Black Sea capital.
