Europol Director Rob Wainwright arrives on a visit to Bulgaria Sunday, according to Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

The visit is connected to Bulgarian police operations against counterfeit money.

On Friday, police broke a network for printing fake Euros and confiscated fake bills with the nominal  value of EUR 0.2 M. The network operated in the region of the second largest city - Plovdiv

Working in cooperation with Europol, police discovered two printing facilities, as well as blueprints for the creation of more than EUR 0.5 M in EUR 100 and 200 bills.

The production of the criminal group was intended to be distributed across the European Union.

"Everything that has been done and is done in this operation is immediately transferred in Europol's analytical files. Don't be surprised if the next report of the organization, coming in 2 years, lists the problem with counterfeit money in Bulgaria. Because there is such problem. And we are doing everything possible to show Bulgaria is a safe and secure place, not a distributor of fake money, since it tarnishes the country's image," the Minister pointed out.
