The leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, and former Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, took home Wednesday afternoon his first child – newborn baby girl Dariya.

Dariya was born on May 1, celebrated by BSP as Labor Day.

Reporters and photographers waited for hours to catch a glimpse of Stanishev, Dariya and Dariya's mother and Stanishev's girlfriend, Monika, since the opposition leader did not want to announce the exact time he would take his new family from the hospital to bring them home.

Before that, Stanishev has held a party for fellow party members at the BSP headquarters in downtown Sofia and the latter had given Dariya a diamond-studded necklace with the wish she would shine as a diamond.

The youth organization at the party had presented the proud father with a symbolic cake made from diapers and topped with a baby elephant, wishing Dariya to be pretty as her mother and smart as her father.

Stanishev had promised at the party to begin working on a second baby. He turns 45 Thursday and is expected to treat with drinks and food fellow Members of the Parliament.
