"Do you know how I get into you? Through the front entrance, through the back door, through the blow job," says the virus in the video.

A controversial new campaign advertisement in Bulgaria tries to encourage people to use condoms by graphically explaining the way HIV is contracted - and gets caught in a backlash.

The video, shot to mark the World AIDS day as part of the national ANTI-AIDS campaign, features as a main character a cartooned virus and is garnished with pictures of steamy female and male private parts.

"Do you know how I get into you? Through the front entrance, through the back door, through the blow job," says the virus.

The video unleashed angered responses in the social network Facebook, where a sign-up was launched, demanding that the people behind it are revealed and the funding used paid back, if this is taxpayers' money.

Citizens, including prominent journalists, writers and translators, said they will send a letter to Tonka Varleva, Head of Bulgaria's Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS program.

"HIV/AIDS prevention is an extremely serious issue, which affects everyone of us. You, being the highest institution, which deals with it, should have approached this issue and the campaigns for its prevention seriously, with care, insight and most of all responsibility," the letter reads.

It demands that the video's authors and the authorities, which approved it, be forced to explain their arguments.
