The Bulgarian government will increase by BGN 4 M the budget for providing jobs for people with disabilities, the Employment Agency has announced.

The executive director of the agency, Rositsa Stelyanova, said Wednesday that about 14,000 people with disabilities have been registered in employment bureaux in the last 10 months, which is about 3,9% of the total number of unemployed people in the country.

Until October, the state has helped for the employment of more than 4570 people with disabilities and 2200 of them have found permanent jobs and not a temporary employment, Stelyanova said.

"Next year, the government will give a total of BGN 12 M for providing jobs for people with disabilities," Stelyanova said.

She has explained that the agency hopes the money would be able to provide jobs to about 5000 people with disabilities, which are part of the five vulnerable groups at the job market who receive one fifth of the total budget allocated for active policy in 2011.

One program envisions training and employment of people with disabilities for a period of at least 3 years, with the state providing the employer with the needed salaries and insurances for these people, the agency's executive director has explained.
