Bulgarian Youngster with Hepatic Crisis Transported from Greece

A specialized medical team has left for Greece's Thessaloniki in order to transport a Bulgarian citizen with a hepatic crisis, the Bulgarian Health Ministry has announced.

It is expected the patient to be in Sofia around 10 pm on Sunday.

The Greek authorities have alarmed the Bulgarian Executive Agency for Transplantation that a 19-year-old man was suffering a hepatic crisis as a result of acute hepatitis B.

The youngster had worked on the Greek island Corfu. He was sent from there to the National Transplant Center in Thessaloniki, where the doctors decided that he urgently needed a liver transplant.

The transportation of the man from Greece to Sofia was organized, following the instructions of the Bulgarian Health Minister Anna-Maria Borisova.

The Consul General of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki, Lachezar Ivanov, has been informed. He is in constant touch with the Greek authorities and cooperates for the nedical documentation to be provided.
