There is no evidence the woman, who was listed at the hospital in the southern Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad has been infected with the deadly West Nile Virus.

The information was reported Thursday by doctors from the hospital. The woman, Ilonka Nikolova, 55, was accepted there on Wednesday and is in a coma but the test did not show signs of virus encephalitis and meningitis, eliminating concerns about the West Nile Virus.

Tests will be sent for examination to the Military Medical Academy in Sofia.

The concerns came on the heels of the Tuesday reports that the number of people affected with the West Nile virus in neighboring Greece has reached 16. This number has reached 21 on Thursday, Greek authorities say.

The West Nile virus begins with fever, nausea and vomiting, which are the symptoms of an ordinary virus infection. The symptoms, however, turn very fast into encephalitis and meningitis and the infected need urgent hospitalization.
