Serbia will never recognize the secession of Kosovo, declared Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic after the UN Court of Justice ruled that the independence of the newest Balkan republic was “not illegal.”

“Serbia will not recognize the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo under any circumstances,” said Jeremeic before the building of the International Court of Justice in the Hague as quoted by BGNES.

“There are hard days ahead of us. It is of utmost importance that we manage to keep the peace and to stabilize the entire territory of the province (i.e. Kosovo). It is essential that our citizens do not give in to provocations,” stated the Foreign Minister of Serbia shortly after the ICJ ruled in favor of Kosovo.

The advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice was issued at the request of the UN General Assembly after Serbia referred to it the question about the legality of Kosovo’s declaration of independence from February 2008.
